Introduction
You are invited to participate in a research study entitled "AI-Assisted Problem-Solving". Please read the following information carefully before deciding whether to participate.
Procedures
The purpose of this research is to understand how people interact with AI decision-support tools when solving problems. Data collection runs from May to June 2026. You will access this study through the Prolific platform and complete an online experiment individually. During the study, you will be presented with problem-solving scenarios and will use an AI assistant to help you make decisions. The experiment takes approximately 20 minutes.
Risks
This study is considered minimal risk. You may experience minor discomfort such as frustration or confusion if you find the tasks challenging. There are no foreseeable risks beyond those encountered in day-to-day life. You may terminate your participation at any moment before submitting your responses.
Benefits
There are no direct personal benefits. Anticipated benefits include advancing our understanding of human-AI collaboration, informing the design of more effective AI tools, and contributing to scientific knowledge in human-computer interaction. Results will be disseminated in scholarly journals and academic presentations.
Compensation
You will receive monetary compensation for your time. A copy of the research results will be available at the study's conclusion to participants who request it by emailing [email protected].
Confidentiality & Privacy
All information obtained during this study will be kept confidential to the full extent possible. Data will be collected using a secure, web-based survey platform. During collection, data is stored on password-protected servers. For analysis and storage, the anonymized dataset is kept on Google Drive associated with the Principal Investigator's institutional account, accessible only to the PI. No personally identifiable information (such as names or email addresses) will be collected.
Voluntary Nature of the Study
Participation is strictly voluntary and may be withdrawn at any time without prejudice. You may withdraw before submitting by simply closing your browser window. No data from your session will be retained.
